Short Maori Culture Course

KIWA offer short cultural courses introducing Maori concepts in the context of marae protocol and the powhiri (formal welcoming) process. Maori concepts discussed will include mana, tapu, noa, manaakitanga, Maori cosmogony and whakapapa, iwi, hapu and whanau.

KIWA also invite guest speakers to give seminars on specific topics such as karanga (the welcoming call), taonga puoro (Maori instruments), taamoko (traditional tattoos) and raranga (weaving).
